Sew Many Horses
Our Gallery

Here are a few pictures of previously completed projects.
This is the first quilt I finished.
Diane gave me the pattern and
said DO IT.  So I did.  It got 2nd
place at the Yavapai County Fair.
This basket quilt was a fun one
with 126 different colored baskets.
It is the last quilt Diane helped
me with.
A baby quilt I made for someone
living at the Grand Canyon.
All Cooped Up was my first
attempt at applique  after Diane
showed me how to do it correctly.
 Here's the nest.
This is a mystery quilt CJ and I
did.  She mailed me the directions
a step at a time.
Diane started this quilt.  It was
hanging on her design wall when
she passed away.  Her daughter
Judi told me to take it home and
finish it so the pieces didn't get
lost.  I only made two of the star
blocks.  I have fretted over it a
lot hoping she would approve of
the way I finished it.  This one is
very special to me.
I started this quilt by myself from
a pattern in a magazine.  I had
never learned to applique and did
it really bad, so once again Diane
came to my rescue.  She took all
the blocks home and redid them.
I embroidered all of the flowers
after she fixed it.
Star light was an attempt to have
a quilt that wouldn't show dog hair
from Chapo,  It works really well.
Scrappy stars came from the Road
to California pattern book.  I
thought it looked kind of western.
Birds and Bears was the first quilt
Deb made.  I cut out pieces for 2
quilts and told her to go home
and make hers.  It was great fun
to both do the same quilt.  Here's
hers on her beautiful log bed.
School houses was one that Diane
did also.  I had so much fun
doing the houses that I sort of
lost my head.  This quilt is King
Sized.
Celestial View was a group project
my quilt group "The Young and
Restless Quilters" did.  Several of
us in the group made one of
these.  I'll try to post photos of
some of the others.  I put yellow
piping next to the binding and I
really like it.  It's not hard to do.
I call this quilt Horse Feathers.  I took a machine quilting class from Sue
Nickels at Quilt in the Pines, Flagstaff  July 2005.  The center square is the
one I did in class.  I love the technique so came home and did 8 more blocks
for a quilt.  Pictured to the right is a close up of that first block I did.  If
anyone gets a chance to take a class from her, jump on it because she is an
excellent teacher!!  You won't be sorry you took her class.
I did HONOR ABIDES HERE with
CJ on one of our quilting
weekends.  We were looking for
something fun and easy to do so I
suggested this one.  We cut the
blocks out for 2 quilts on Sunday
Morning then sewed like crazy.
We both had our tops done on
Monday.  Then she let me quilt it
on her long arm machine in
Tucson.  It was a fun project and
a great one to do on a retreat!!
Tranquil Treasures was featured on
"Simply Quilts" and Diane made one so
I had to.  It's fun to dig through your
small scraps and just use them up.
Cowgirls was a project I did in
one day. While cleaning up my
sewing room I discovered I had all
of these fabrics and they were
actually made as a series so I
chopped them up and made this.
CJ and I both made Frosty on a
winter weekend in Tucson.  We
were both freezing and wrapped up
in jammies and froze but we
wouldn't stop sewing.  I told you I
was a rabid quilter!!
I found this horse head on the cover
of a quilt magazine and had to try it.
When CJ and Lorraine and I decided
to do a pass around project I used it
for mine.  CJ did the blue with stars
and horse shoes then Lorraine took it
and added the rail fence and outer
border with wagon wheels.  The
wagon wheels were done with a
special technique that Lorraine had
just learned at a quilt retreat.  It
turned out great!!
This rag quilt was from a class
that Diane taught at my house.
We took mercy on my husband
and did it while he was off
Javalina hunting with his friend
Dave.
Log cabin was made at Alamo
Lake over Thanksgiving weekend.
We always go camping for the
holiday .  We take our machines
and do a quilt and go riding on
the quads.
Alamo Cowboys was done at
Alamo Lake also.  It is the Around
the Twist Pattern.  Here's Lorraine
and I with our projects just before
we went home.
Stack and Whack stars was
another Thanksgiving Alamo project.
HORSES I KNOW was made for
Katie Hill  Miss Rodeo Arizona
2007-08 as a fund raiser.  She
sold raffle tickets for months and
had the drawing at her trunk show
just before the Miss Rodeo
America Pageant.  It was the last
thing to be raffled off and MY
HUSBAND DAVE Won it!!!  I never
asked, just grabbed the ticked and
went up to Katie and gave it to
her to keep.  I hope it will always
be a great memory of her time as
Miss Rodeo Arizona.  Dave was a
great sport about it all.  Someday
I will make one like this for us to
keep.  .  Here's a picture of
Debby's horsehead quilt.  She
called hers Horses of Many Colors
and I  quilted it for her.
Here's Debs Quilt after I finished it.
And here it is back home in Wyoming.
